Windsurfing: Bigbury Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: F4-5 Surf / Sea State: 2-4ft Air Temperature: 13 Sea Temperature: 11 Weather: Fog Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got to Bigbury for 2 pm to find a few planing in and out in the push tide.
Unfortunately I dipped out on the free parking slots and had to pay
discovering that the price has gone up again!! Most were out on 5.5 to 6.0
but I reckoned I could get away with a 5.2 combined with the big waveboard,
turned out the right choice as the wind had picked up a bit.
The launch is a bit trickier from the car park as the beach level has
dropped by a couple of feet, this has exposed a lot of rocks to negotiate.
The waves were pretty small but the swell was building so I dropped down
wind toward Bantham to take advantage of the sand bar reefs. Loads of fun
and nicely powered up. Some big jumps and even a back loop attempt. Nailed
a helitack so the skills are getting back to normal. Called it a day at 5
pm as the SW winds are sheltered by Burgh Island at high tide. Excellent
day for a foggy, rainy Bank Holiday weekend.
